Description

IN OPTION - Rural Eppegem, near Zemst in Flemish Brabant. Just 16 km from central Brussels, close to Mechelen and with two train stations nearby – a major benefit for commuters. Lovely walking routes, such as the Zenne Meanders Trail, lead along quiet paths to the Wormelaar domain and Daelemansbos. Restaurant De Schranshoeve, with playground, is even within walking distance. Green, safe and easily accessible living: the ideal balance between city and nature.

Roger Vanhoof is one of the architects who reshaped housing in the 60s–70s. This very well-kept semi-detached home reflects his pure, uncompromising brutalism.

Entrance hall with cloakroom and guest toilet. On the left, a separate office ideal for home-working or a freelance practice, also accessible via a sliding door from the living room. A glass door leads to the bright sitting area with stone carpet flooring and large windows that bring in generous light. The rear dining room overlooks the garden with striking artworks. Rounded details, concrete accents and a fine view toward the stainless-steel Bulthaup kitchen (2002). Behind the kitchen: shower room, laundry and built-ins. Cellar and large double garage.

Upstairs: three bedrooms, two with a small terrace, and a bathroom. Attic via retractable stairs, offering extra potential.
Brutalism in its purest form for true enthusiasts.

owner speaks out

It was an absolute privilege to grow up in such an architectural home. As a contractor and passionate lover of architecture, design, and art, our father knew exactly which architect he wanted to work with: Roger Vanhoof. Both were highly focused on quality, paying attention to every detail and functionality. The house was built by him personally, and our parents have always maintained it with great love and care. Even the Bulthaup kitchen is a lasting feature; after more than twenty years, it still looks like new.
